Hazy Summer Days
As I start gearing up for fall, I'm also finishing up my work on my last few summer sessions. And that of course means blogging them, and sharing them with all of you! This was a beautiful family session that we did in the last gasps of those hazy summer days. I was lucky enough to do newborn portraits for their youngest little one way back in the day, and this is now my third time photographing this beautiful family. I can hardly believe it each time I see them how much everyone has grown, and it's always such a complement when a family returns to you again and again.
It was so incredibly hot the morning we did this session, we were in the middle of a heat wave, and everyone was sticky and sweating up a storm. None the less everyone stayed pretty happy as we made our way through this session. We drank plenty of water, and did our best to stay in the shade. Keeping little one cool and happy was our top priority!
When we first spoke together about this session Mom was going back and forth on colors and the hats. This is a great example of how you don't need to have everyone wear the same color to create a cohesive look. The colors are all of similar depth and tone, just on complementing spaces of the color wheel. I just love the colors they ended up with. And of course, I LOVE the use of hats. Good styling makes such a huge difference in the final images, and we worked hard to make sure that the colors all worked well together. I always remind families that accessories are always a welcome addition to family portrait photography, and help to showcase your personality. These guys nailed it!
